In the summer of 2007, YACT was involved in demanding a meeting with the New York City Department of Health (DOH) to express concerns about the impact that housing conditions have on asthmatic children. Youth organizers spent time talking to families, photographing health hazards, and putting together a presentation of their findings. The youth group wrote letters to the DOH Commissioner to request a meeting to give a report on their work. YACT engages Mexican-American youth to conduct grassroots research on the experiences of discrimination of Latino youth in Sunset Park's public schools and to organize for educational equity and opportunity.
